Maintenance, Improvements and Updating your System
Improvements
Adding remote control
You will see that our system works like a PC. Not like a native smart television like remote control.
To fix this, we can add a Bluetooth remote control functionality, the only requirement being, you must have a bluetooth-enabled PC. (Most of modern computers have Bluetooth)
If not, you can opt to buy a Wi-Fi + Bluetooth M.2 Card that is to be installed inside your computer, or a Bluetooth Dongle that is to be inserted to one of the USB Ports.
Next, you can either
- Grab a physical Bluetooth remote
or
- Download a Bluetooth Remote Control app from your phone (BLE - Bluetooth Low Energy Required on your phone).
Then, you can just pair the phone to the Android system by going into Settings >> Remotes & Accessories >> Pair a device

A note about local TV Channels
An OEM smart TV has the functionality of utilising signals to serve local channels, but in our case, this feature won't work (your PC can't receive these signals without the required equipment and setup)
Updates
Updating your system without loosing data
As time goes by, new Android and Android TV versions will come by, and as for that reason, we have to update the system periodically.
Here is how to update your system:
- Grab the latest copy of Android TV ISO Image and mount it.
- Copy the
system.sfsfile and paste it into the persistence partition we made (the exFAT partition). This will overwrite the existingsystem.sfsfile without loosing your apps and games.
Future Android TV versions
Soon, the site where we download the ISO images may not be updated frequently, so we encourage users to actively hunt for new ISOs from HmTheBoy154's Android TV on PC Telegram Group.
Maintenance
The system is just Android, but for TVs, make sure to install apps from trusted sites and practice digital hygiene :)
